What to Bring to the Gig
It is (oh so) easy to forget something you need at a gig. Try making a gig checklist or creating a “gig bag” so you will always have what you need.
Here are some things I make sure to have with me.
- my music and songbooks (and enough copies for me and all of my players)
- my microphone and cable
- my microphone and portable music stand (I LOVE my portable music stand!)
- water bottle and non-mentholated throat drops
- a map, the address and directions to the venue
- a contact number for someone at the venue (ideally someone who will be at the venue on the day I’m performing)
- the cell phone numbers of my players (I put them into my phone in advance)
- my marketing materials (i.e. business cards, demo CDs, brochures, mailing list signup, etc.).
